Meet The Doctors

Dr. Yngvar Alan Hvistendahl is a co-owner of Plastic Surgery Specialists. He completed his Plastic Surgery Fellowship training at University California San Francisco after graduating from the General Surgery Program at the same institution. He finished an Internship in Anesthesia at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation after he received his Medical Degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

His Undergraduate Degree was obtained at Dartmouth College in 1989. He grew up on the Island of Notteroy, Tonsberg, Norway.

Dr. Hvistendahl is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a current active member of the American Medical Association and holds memberships in the following associations and societies:

Dr. Hvistendahl is delighted to practice the art of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Marin County, where he has lived with his family for the last ten years. He is determined to give his patients the care, dedication, compassion and empathy which are essential to a healthy professional relationship.

Dr. Stanley G. Poulos is the other co-owner of Plastic Surgery Specialists. Dr. Poulos received his medical degree from the University of Texas, his General and Plastic Surgery training at the University of California, San Francisco, and St. Francis Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Center in San Francisco.

In addition to his private practice, Dr. Poulos has been a clinical instructor of Plastic Surgery and has served for many years as Chairman of the Plastic Surgery division of Marin General Hospital.

Much more than a highly skilled plastic surgery specialist, Dr. Poulos is an idealist who believes that cosmetic plastic surgery practice must combine innovation and state-of-the-art technology with warmth, humanity, and genuine care for each of his patients.

Dr. Manis is a graduate of the Wayne State University College of Medicine, Detroit Michigan, and received his general surgery and plastic surgery training in San Francisco, California. Upon completion of this training in 1969, he began private practice in cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery in Marin County.

In addition to his practice, Dr. Manis and a team of specially trained assistants and colleagues have traveled to countries such as Guatemala, Honduras, Armenia and Vietnam to teach and perform corrective reconstructive surgical procedures on individuals afflicted with accidental or birth related disfigurements.

Dr. Manis is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and holds memberships in the following associations and societies:
